The Love Italian Life Awards are proud to announce the nominees for The Best Contemporary Restaurant in Emilia-Romagna 2019 Award which will be decided by public vote shortly.

The shortlisted restaurants will have an exciting opportunity to win a final place in The Love Italian Life 2019 Awards in Dublin on November 19th which is an international ceremony celebrating the best contemporary Italian restaurants and their authentic chefs across Italy, UK & Ireland.

The nominated Michelin Star restaurants in Emilia-Romagna were selected by an independent panel of Italian food and beverage experts excelling in all key criteria including the quality of ingredients, recipe innovation, contemporary Italian cooking techniques, dish presentation and wine pairing selection.

The cuisine of Emilia Romagna is world famous and for good reason. They have some of the most diverse pasta in all of Italy due to the high quality of local wheat production which results in the finest fresh pasta varieties including ‘tortellini’, ‘cappelletti’ and ‘lasagne’. One of the most famous dishes involves an ingenious flat bread from Romagna called ‘piadina’ which offers endless filling combinations pairing nicely with local salumi and cured meat specialties including ‘Mortadella di Bologna’, ‘Salame di Canossa’ and ‘Prosciutto di Parma’ which is one of the most exported Italian products worldwide. When speaking of the region one cannot forget to mention the Italian cheese reputation it has especially when the ‘king of cheese’ is spoken about which is of course ‘Parmigiano Reggiano’ DOP and the famous ‘Pecorino reggiano’ used by chefs all around Italy. Other incredible food products include ancient Modena and Reggio based balsamic vinegars which have an ageing process over 10 years being the condiment of choice for so many Italian salads at the dinner table.
